CANTON, TX — The Republican Club of Van Zandt County is calling on local students to mark Constitution Day in a creative and scholarly way. In honor of the September 17, 1787 signing of the U.S. Constitution, the club is sponsoring both an essay contest for middle and high school students and an art contest for 4th and 5th graders.
The winners will be honored during a special Constitution Day program at the Van Zandt County Courthouse steps on September 17, 2025. The event will feature state and local officials (Senator Bob Hall, SD2, State Representative Brent Money, HD2, VZC Judge Andy Reese, and special Keynote Speaker, Aaron Reitz, current candidate for Texas Attorney General, patriotic music, and readings from the Constitution. Van ISD High School choir will be providing the music.
“We are hoping for great participation from students in the VZC area,” said Suzanne Duke, Vice President of the Republican Club, who is coordinating the contests.
